Re: Can Premiere Pro CS6 be shut down when Encore CS6 has the project to save memory?

Encore opens up Encore projects without Premiere needing to be running the same project

When the Premiere sequence is dynamic linked, Encore is also opening an instance of a PR stand-in pproheadless whatever. It really does not matter functionally whether PR is open or not. Look at the processes that are running on your machine with PR and EN closed. Then open an EN project that is dynamic linked and look again.

Encore CS6 Blu-Ray "fatal error" during build

I have an external ble-ray drive that I just bought from OWC for my MacBook Pro. I have created a project for a wedding that has 3 sequences. Everything looks good, and the building/burning process gets about 90% done and I get this:

Blu-ray Error: "fatal error", Code: "6", Note: "Video buffer underflows. Total bitrate is too high near time = 0.0000000 seconds - Failed to multiplex with maximum IG PTS: 54900000 (in 90kHz).

I am new with Adobe, especially Encore. This is my third try with the same message. I tried building to Blu-Ray disc as well as Blu-Ray image. I have several couples waiting on a Blu-Ray disc for their wedding video, and I can't produce one! So frustrated!

Any help is MUCH appreciated!

Josh

Is this dynamic linked to Encore? If not, how are you transcoding?

If yes, what are your transcode settings?

Users have fixed this error by reducing bitrate.

I'll give it a shot and let you know.  Thanks.

Stan, thanks for the reply. I'm not sure honestly. It looks like the transcoding says "Automatic." I think I just imported the Sequences and did not use the Dynamic Link. I have 3 sequences and wasn't sure how to link all 3 to the same project? This is the first time I've used Encore and I am pretty behind the curve. Ha. Thanks.

If you imported the sequences, that is dynamic link. And "automatic" would be applied by default. What is the total length of the videos?

All three combined is about 77 minutes.

Thank you, Stan!   It is indeed.

From that video, from  what you've said, and what I've read here:

(Amazing amount of information re: subtitles and closed captions)

http://www.cpcweb.com/faq/

I've come to believe that:  (I could be mistaken!)

Closed Captions:

Closed Caption does indeed work through the TV set and is controlled only by the remote control for the TV set, not the DVD player remote.

The reason Closed Captions in movies I have that include them won't play on my setup is because I'm connected between all boxes with HDMI cables.  Component cables will only support closed captions in standard definition.  (480i).  Not sure what S video cable will do.

Closed captions are a separate bit of information which used to be provided on broadcast line 21.  Since 2009 most broadcasters in North America have switched over to DTV (digital TV.)

Closed captions need to be provided as a .scc file for regular definition, or .mcc for high definition.  Not sure if .mcc is required for high def.  Encore, if set up correctly, can add closed captions to a DVD, but it isn't possible to see the captions in Encore.  You have to burn a disc before you can tell if they are there, and if you test on a TV set that is connected to your DVD player with HDMI cables, they aren't going to show up anyway.

Closed captions are required by law, in both English and Spanish, as of 2010, in the USA, for broadcast TV.  Not sure how to add both languages in Encore, that is, together or separately, or how to give the viewer a choice.

Encore is going to be able to add closed captions only in NTSC format.  PAL uses a different standard that Encore does not support.

Subtitles:

Subtitles are bitmap images that can be turned on or off on a DVD and will be controlled by the DVD remote control.  They can be either language only, or language and sound effects, which are labled SDH (subtitles for the deaf and hearing impaired.)

While it would be lovely, I doubt any TV stations are ever going to be broadcasting my videos.  What I need to figure out is how to make the buttons work with subtitles.

I'm running the trial of MovieCaptioner, which can create the several file types, including .scc, what Encore needs, what YouTube needs and many more.

http://www.synchrimedia.com/

My earliest attempts failed  because my AVCHD video is too high a resolution and the previewer part of the program wouldn't function.  With help from the creator of the program I've learned I need to reduce my file size considerably.  I'm stll working on it.

I've had After Effects, Premier Pro and Encore for less than a week.  I think my mind is half fried.

Um, back to the video tutorial that now works... they have a couple more that relate specifically to subtitles, but they aren't working either... any chance???

thanks!

Paz

Well Stan, you win the prize!  Uninstalled the old QT and downloaded a slightly newer version - voila!
Thanks for your help.

Set up a simple test project with a short standard definition video and a couple subtitles. (You can add them manually.) Encore preview will show/hide them. You can experiment with the navigation like that.

Surprise! Usually it was installing an older version... Excellent news, and thanks for reporting back.

Audio format, number of streams, etc can make a difference. Assuming audio under 1500, you might try CBR 25, or target 25 with max 27.

I think the recommendations for this came from Encore getting the max rate wrong, but I think it rules out using automatic for bluray.

Also, unless you actually use MOV files that require QT, you do not need it installed at all

I do not have QT installed, and I just ignore the Encore warning message

Of course, if you do use the kind of MOV files that require QT (not all of them do) then you must have QT

CC, CS6 and Encore

I subscribed to CC for the last year, even though the AVCD part didn't work for long, spanned clips. Because of a corrupt windows 7, I had to reinstall it.  Thru application manager I can get Premiere CC, etc., but I need CS6 Premiere and Encore. How do I get them back?

Thanks.

Stan,

I'm about half-way there and everything seems to be working (gasp!). If somewhere it fails, I'll get back.

Anyway, thanks very much for the info.

Long time to transcode in Encore

Is it normal to take as long as 10 hours to transcode a 2 hour Premier Pro project???

The original video was shot in HD 1440x1080 / 9mbps

Transcoding to standard video 720x480 / 7mbps

The transcoding is using just about 100% of my processor.  I am using Windows 7 with Intel i7 / 8core / 16MB memory.  Unlike Premier Pro, i cant utilize my nVidia mercury engine to reduce the load on the processesor.

It is not so much downrezzing etc that adds up, but effects etc. And yes, that is where the mercury helps. It does seem long, but I don't have any statistics.

Are you using the option in Encore to  use AME to transcode? Now that Encore is 64 bit, I don't really know whether it is faster or not. You don't say; I assume you are Encore CS6?

If you are not using dynamic link or automatic, export from Premiere.

This is actually a very interesting error message. There are 4 blu-ray authoring programs that can display a error message that contains "video buffer underflows" when authoring a Blu-Ray with H.264.

These 4 blu-ray authoring programs are: Sony DVD Architect Studio, Sony DVD Architect Pro, Adobe Encore and Sonic Senarist BD.

Another interesting thing is also that the complete error message that is displayed by both Sony DVD Architect Studio and Sony DVD Architect Pro is exactly identical, word for word, with the error message that is displayed by Sonic Senarist BD.
