Re: Premiere pro cc chapter markers aren't showing in encore 6

Some exports carry chapter info and some don't. What format are you exporting?

My chapter menu features 15 chapters,

4:3 or 16:9? If you also have other buttons (main menu for example), you may run into the button maximum:

There is a limit of 36 buttons for a 4:3 menu and 18 for 16:9 menu.

If that is not it, are your color sets set to "automatic"? (Select the menu and look at properties.)

Stan-
Thanks so much for the reply!
It's 16:9-  I actually re-counted- there are 12 chapters (each with a button), and one main menu button on the chapter selection page. That's only buttons 13 in total on the chapter selection, and 15 in total on the entire DVD.

All colors are set to Automatic- Should I set it to anything else?

So too many buttons is not the issue.

In your original post, when you said "Some of the (=1) DVD's don't even show up!," what did you mean? Missing button or highlight? That's part of why I wondered about the button count on that menu. Multiple issues and no obvious cause may point to a corrupt project.

No. Automatic just means they get picked up from the buttons, rather than from the defined color sets.

Create a new test project. Add two menus. Put one of your buttons in each one. Link the buttons to the other menu. (They just go back and forth.) Burn a test disk. (I'd be using DVD+RW to save disks.) Do you see the probem?

Also, you might post a screenshot of your menu, in photoshop, with one or more button layers twirled open (so we can see the =1 layers and any other layers inside the + group.

I see 2 other instances of CC users complaining that chapter info from PR CC is not coming into EN CS6. There were other issues, so that was not tracked down.

Are there users out there for whom PR CC Encore chapters are coming into EN CS6 okay?

Sorry; don't have CC and cannot test myself.

I mean missing Highlights. you can select a random chapter with a remote, but without highlights, it's impossible to tell which you're selecting.

I really hope it's not a corrupt project- I haven't done anything to provoke errors, I don't think! How could you tell if it was corrupt? Do you get a notice window or anything? Everything checked out fine when I "Check Project"ed it before burning.

Right. Here's a screenshot-

I'll try the test DVD's in a moment and report back with the results.

Does a menu from the coworker's working version look the same? (button + and =) No other layers.

I assume the text is actually part of the background?

No warning that it is corrupt. And I am not saying it is.

Was your projecty created by doing a save as of a previous project?

Re: Does Encore CS6 burn Blu-Ray discs region free?

Many thanks John, the PDF says "The All Regions setting is used for Blu-Ray Discs."

I'm still a little confused about why Encore asks about PAL or NTSC at the begging though. If the discs are all region, why does PAL or NTSC matter for HD?

The framerate is different.

Thanks Stan,

we shot the film at 23.98fps, and PAL says 25 and NTSC says 29.97. Will Encore be able to handle the change in frame rate from 23.98 to 29.97?

Windows or Mac... internal or external... what other software have you installed since it did work?

Does Control Panel (if Windows) recognize your drive?

So few details that I don't think anyone will be able to help

Project setup 16:9, but burns 4:3

I build the DVD as 16:9 SD, with the 4:3/16:9 switch in the Project window set to 16:9. The source video is 16:9. BUT when I build a DVD it comes out 4:3 "cutout" (with both ends lopped off) and the switch is set to 4:3 and cannot be changed.

I create a new project, set it up as 16:9, setup chapter markers, run "Check Project" on the Build tab (there are none), play it using the "Monitor" tab (it is 16:9), "Preview" navigation (it works perfectly and displays as 16:9) and click the "Build' button. Transcoding, creating and burning the DVD appears to go perfectly fine, but when the disk is done, it is 4:3 and the switch in Encore is greyed out and cannot be reset.

I have now experienced this exact same sequence of events 4 times.

The last time through I noticed that the little video preview window in the upper left corner is 4:3 and I have not found a way to change it.
The only other thing I can think of that might be relevant is that the source video file is an 854px x 480px h.264 file, but I figure that the automatic transcoding will create the type of file required.

Anyone have any idea what might be happening and how to fix it so I end up with a 16:9 SD DVD.

Thanks, JP

Hi JP,

Are you doing anything in Premiere, or just taking a file and dropping it straight into Encore? Your file is 16:9 with 1.0 PAR (square pixels). Have you tried right-clicking on it in the bin and try Interpret? You may need to TELL Encore how to treat the file.

Otherwise, drop file into Premiere, and Export using Media Encoder, using an MPEG-2 DVD widescreen preset, and then use the resulting assets in Encore.

Thanks

This seems to be a common issue. Rather than burn to Blu-ray from Encore, create an IMAGE instead (.iso file) and then use another program like the free Image Burn to burn the actual disc from the .iso.

Thanks

Windows 7 Home Permium, Internal disc (Toshiba Qosmio Laptop)

Before 2 days it worked very well and i didn't change anything in the software, nor drivers of the disc recorder or anything. I'm suspicious about something, i did a copy of a blu-ray disc yesterday with nero platinum 11 and at first it didn't work, i had to change to nero express to do the copy and it worked fine, if this changed anything in the configurations then i have no idea what.

The control panel recognizes my drive fine, it even plays discs, the only thing i didn't check is to change the Encore project from Blu-Ray to DVD and see if it recognizes it.

If you need more details just tell me what i should post

Thank You

Jeff

The "right-clicking on it in the bin and try Interpret" bit did the trick. I had never even seen that set of controls, so thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction.

I'm trying to burn directly from Premiere, sending the sequence directly (rendered) to Encore so it's gonna take lots of time to export the movie and stuff...i work for a wedding recording studio and it worked fine till now in this system...but now nope :/
