Export from Premiere as MPEG2-DVD. Or export something lossless to Encore so you have only one compression.

Encore should know to use them. Does it show "transcoded" in the DVD Transcode Status column (or bluray if that is what you are doing)?

Thanks for the suggestion, I will try that now using the specs below

Stan nailed it, encode direct to MPEG-2 DVD from Premiere, using Media Encoder. However, in regards to the current render looking bad, your source is 16:9 but it looks like it is being encoded as 4:3 and that could have some negative effect. So choose the "MPEG-2 DVD" format, and then the appropriate preset, such as "NTSC Widescreen Progressive" to create the assets to import into Encore an make sure to keep it all 16:9 throughout the workflow

Thanks

Not sure what to say. I thought there was away to format the background, but I am not seeing it.

Normally, it does not appear black after the build - it should be transparent, with a highlight that is set by highlight group.

My quick test was DVD.

If you build to a folder, and play that on the computer, does it show the problem?

If you create a new subtitle track, add a manual subtitle, does it do the same thing?

So, I decided to wing it and just takes the transcoded m2v video file and ac3 audio file from the transcodes folder and make a new project and timeline using them. It seems to be working and writing the files to disc....won't know until its done if all is well....

Anyone have a solution?

I am trying to burn about 7.4GB of files for a huge movie project to a DVD+DL

all files are .m2v files from media encoder, and .ac3 files from media encoder. I have about 10 menus and many buttons on the menus linking to various chapter markers, on various timelines.

The main movie is 3,895,709KB large and the .ac3 file with that is 119,118KB. I believe this should fit fine on layer 0.

I'm using a LG burner Super Multi MODISC

Someone mention replacing a .wav file with an .ac3 but all my audio is already .ac3. I have tried the running as administrator each time.

I am using a Memorex DVD+DL or a Kodak DVD+DL (the 8.54GB size)

I get this error when I try and burn it:

Let us know. That is a good workaround for many projects with problems.

well I made a new project with just the main movie file and it's audio. burned fine to DVD+R DL

Yes, fortunately for me it worked just fine. I ignored the other three files in the transcode folder and just used the video and audio file. It recognized them and even had the chapter markings (I assume embedded in. The metadata) it burned a successful copy. This will probably only work if encore has finished the multiplexing/encoding process and crashes during burn phase, but it did work for me. Again I'm using CS4 on a Mac

You say you have already done the REQUIRED Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 for a dual layer DVD, so I'll let that rest

Some other things to consider and try...

Odd Errors http://forums.adobe.com/thread/670174
.
Long File Names or odd characters cause problems
Read http://forums.adobe.com/thread/588273
And #4 http://forums.adobe.com/thread/666558
And This Message Thread http://forums.adobe.com/thread/665641
.
Things and Software to AVOID when authoring/burning a disc... says Encore, but also applies to Premiere Elements and disc burning
.
Start --> http://forums.adobe.com/thread/608660
#2 has WHY Explained http://forums.adobe.com/thread/607390
Plus http://forums.adobe.com/thread/562941
.
Create a DVD output ISO file (Encore) or set your DVD output to a folder on your hard drive (Encore or Premiere Elements) and then use the FREE http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to write files or folders or ISO to disc for DVD or BluRay (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)

thanks. I have read all those links...

if you know the maximum for one layer on a DVD+R DL that would be helpful.

like what is the largest you can putr on one layer before a layer break?

I have read of other problems with Dynamic Link, so I always export out of PPro and import into Encore for authoring
