Yes, Adobe changed things, read more on previous versions https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2389056 see reply #3
Thanks, John. Yeah, I thought about going that route, but it would be optimal to be able to just use Encore to burn, like I was able to before these reinstalls. I can do that if nothing else works, but it seems like there must be some way to get it burning again.
If it worked before, and doesn't work after a Win10 reinstall, it would "seem" that something is different, and that difference is what is causing your problem
Could be a motherboard driver (did you ever install motherboard drivers?) or any number of things that go wrong inside Windows
Have you also right clicked the program icon and selected a compatibility mode?
I don't know about the motherboard drivers - we'll look into that.
My suspicion it may be about Encore is because I'm still able to burn CDs and DVDs with other programs at the moment, just not Encore.
I tried clicking on the Encore and found 'Troubleshoot compatibility,' which is opening the program. I'm not sure if it adjusted anything... I didn't see many options of what to select in there. What should I be looking for?
Update that in there it says ' Windows compatibility mode: Windows 7'. Not sure if I can update it to Windows 10 anywhere in there. Is that what to do or is there a way to do that?
In Win10 you want to tell it to run the program in a Win7 mode... helps some, may not help you
I'm not sure I understand what you're asking about in regards to the motherboard driver. What are we checking on with that?
Do you suppose something could be wrong with our DVD drive even though it is currently working to burn things in other programs? We could try switching it out for a different DVD drive, but I'd rather not do that if that doesn't seem like the problem.
I'm also wanting to double check to see if there's a newer version of Encore than CS6. Last I read, there wasn't. I only way I was able to install Encore CS6 again was by finding it in a strange round-about way by downloading CS6 of Premiere (which we had before, though we upgraded to CC), and Encore installed with CS6 of Premiere. I'm a bit concerned that Encore is getting buggier or isn't supported as well, but we rely on Encore to author and burn DVDs.
Tried it with Word, but it's still not working !
Thank you, anyway !
Word adds junk into the file and will not save a proper text file. I use notepad++.
Many of us never burned with encore. So not a big deal to build to an ISO and burn with something else.
You can also get a sense code due to bad discs. Since they are burning correctly in other applications, that may not be the problem.
Thanks for your reply Neil. Perhaps I should mark this as solved, but I still never figured out entirely everything. Here is what I found, though: The only Blu-ray player connected to a 5.1 system that I had access to at the time played the DVD at 448kbps perfectly the way it was supposed to in 5.1. That same player played the BD also at 448kbps only as stereo. But when I hit "Info," on the blu-ray player remote, it would show the correct metadata (5.1 and 448kbps). I never did solve this problem on this player.
Finally, I bought an USB blu-ray drive to connect to my MacBook Pro. I then played the Blu-ray disk (which is a real pain to do on an apple computer), and outputted the audio via HDMI. This allowed me to connect to several different 5.1 systems with just my laptop and portable Blu-ray drive. Going this route consistently worked.
So in conclusion, I believe that I did everything correct after all. My best guess is that there is just something wrong between the first Blu-ray player → receiver combo that I tried. At least that's what I tell myself to help me sleep at night and put the project to rest.
Any CS6 program is no longer supported, so there are no "new" bugs in Encore
The only way to install Encore is to install Premiere Pro, since you must have a paid license (either serial number or Cloud subscription and use the "previous" function to install PPro) since Encore has 3rd party modules in the build which do not allow an install separate from Premiere Pro CS6
I personally never go direct to DVD with Encore, since creating an ISO and using Imgburn gives me a lot more control over the DVD writing process
I recently tested the fully functional trial version of TMPGEnc Authoring Works 6. It is a free 30 day trial. I have successfully burned DVD's(MPEG2-DVD) and Blu-ray's (H.264 Blu-ray) videos created in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017. It has many of the same features as Encore CS6. It works with Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
I loaded the PNG subtitle (made in Photoshop) into the notepad++ and converted this to UTF-8 and saved it to two versions of PNG and TXT ; then I tried to load these one into Encore subtitle timeline, but still they are not valid !!
TMPGenc has always had a good name for being a good encoder.
I frameserve to TMPGenc Video Mastering. Dont do dvd anymore just BD.
Author in Encore
Burn with CD Burner XP.
Stan, yes that is the exact error message.
I sent the program to myself on WeTransfer so I could get it on my new computer... maybe that has something to do with it??
John, here is the serial number:

Have you ever installed any part of the cloud programs from Adobe? Even as a trial?
Thank you very much for the recommendations and info, all.
I'll try one of those programs recommended for burning things authored in Encore, and may test out TMPGenc if I keep having Encore issues. I appreciate the link to the thread describing how to install Imgburn without toolbar add-ons. Going to try that right now.
Every time I try to download Imgburn, Webroot says it's a threat and wants to remove it. I know there are ways that you're supposed to be able to get around installing the stuff bundled with it, but it does make me wary of installing the program...
