If you have a subscription that includes Premiere CC (any version), you can install PR CS6 which includes Encore. You will not use your serial number. If you stop your subscription to the cloud, you'll need special action to get apps to run under serial numbers.

What version of Encore have you been trying to install? If you have any CC programs, the older versions may not work.

If you have an older version installed and uninstall (really any adobe apps), be sure to run the Cleaner.

Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

Hi Guy.

Here or privately all depends on how much you are happy discussing publicly, I guess - I honestly do not mind either way.

Let's begin with Blu-Print - it looks from the web link as if Sony have sold it to someone else. That version advertised there is old now - I have since found this website selling version 6.7 but it definitely seems that this is no longer anything to do with Sony as such - their entire creative software line is either with Magix now or OOP forever.  If I go to the Sony Professional site & search, I find nothing at all under Blu-Print.

Good find on the archived stuff - all support for DSA has also vanished although I do have all the installers & PDF from previously (before we shifted to Scenarist BD-J tool) and I honestly wish I had sold it off when it was still possible to get the bugger activated - I have no idea what would happen if anyone who actually spent the £13,000 on the full package when it was released under NetBlender (Oh yes - that would have been me) needed to reinstall & reactivate it and I have no clue what would happen legally either. I suspect there is small print in the terms & conditions we all never read before installing saying that it lives and dies on the same machine.

But I digress, and it gets us nowhere listening to me whinging.

Reading through your response above, it does look like you have everything covered. BluStreakTracer is indeed the one you need (Mac Only) to turn an Encore output into the requisite Type A BDCMF replication Master.

AACS are very helpful, no doubt about it - but they can well afford to be given that the mandatory use of this doubles replication costs and considerably adds to overheads getting all set up. You can safely ignore ISAN (unless you are needing Managed Copy options but I have to say this is all pointless as a $75 piece of software will break any copy protection on the format. Delving into personal opinion I believe this is one of the 2 main reasons Blu-ray has not really taken off.

It would seem you are well sorted though but please do get in touch if there is anything I can help with. Blu-ray authoring for replication can best be summed up as "bloody complicated" and I strongly advise getting a test mould from the factory before proceeding with the replication run as this is really your only chance to test the encrypted data on devices such as the godawful PS3 or X-Box 1, neither of which allow playback of written Blu-ray BD-ROM discs to allegedly help fight piracy as these devices automatically assume any written disc is bootlegged, and will not run them - and PS3 count for about 12-15 million of the players out there. Probably as much as 40% of the "total number of Blu-ray players sold" as the PS3 counts towards this despite the probability that 95% of these have never had a Blu-ray film loaded into them. The trouble with the consoles and Blu-ray is that they are not Blu-ray players but emulators, and are the equivalent of a software player. They have caused us trouble in the past for certain.

I am happy to talk openly, and equally happy to go private via email or the PM system.

I've set the motion settings for the menu screen to loop forever and I've set the duration of the menu as the length of the back ground video / audio which is 00;02;58;05.

If I then burn this to disk and play the disk in a blu ray player, the menu only plays for about 3 seconds then starts from the beginning again, The menu does work - i,e, if you select the play button then it plays the film, but I can't get the whole duration of the menu to work after having burned about 10 disks now.

Anyone got any thoughts what the problem could be?

With apologies for the selective quote but yes I have an idea & the clue is in the quoted text above.

It is either a co-incidence worthy of a "Twilight Zone" episode or else your menu run time of 3 seconds is identical to your set loop time if you lose the frames.......the timecode is HH:MM:SS:FF but is it possible you have entered this incorrectly somewhere and something is set to HH:MM:SS so instead of 00:02:58:05 you are set to 00:02:58 and the system thinks you mean 3 seconds, not 3 minutes?

It just seems like a serious possibility as this has happened to me in Scenarist - very easy to do if working quicjkly

I have the very same set (as well as TNG The Full Journey - bring on Voyager and that will be me happy)

Re: Blu-ray 5.1 Sound Not Playing in Surround

It is almost certainly the firmware/player setup in the initial player at fault here,

What happens when these things are sent out from the factory is the default settings in every player are minimal options that will get sound & picture up on as wide a range of systems as possible - the idea is that you then tweak the player options to match your needs.

As this is a Blu-ray player it will almost certainly be set to basic mode - stereo output. Why? Because there are so many ways to connect the audio system:

1 - Analogue Stereo

2 - Analogue Surround

3 - HDMI Digital

4 - CoAxial Digital

5 - Lightpipe/TOSlink/ADAT digital (all the same).

Because of the complex situation with audio on Blu-ray, the older options (4 & 5) are restricted and usually option 3 is set to stereo downmix mode - or the amplifier is set to stereo downmix mode (unlikely). This is simply because there are weird mandatory audio setups (almost everything about Blu-ray is over complicated - it is the epitome of why you should never design media formats by committee) so we have the following mandatory forms (by Mandatory, every player must be capable of this output)

A - PCM at up to 24/192 in 5.1 and up to 7.1 in 24/96.

B - Dolby True HD (Stereo component only - Mandatory Multichannel configuration with Dolby True HD is the AC3 (Dolby Digital) core audio stream and the full 5.1/7.1 lossless output is optionally supported only ("optionally supported" means it is up to the hardware manufacturer to decide of they want this ON or OFF)

C - DTS-HD Master Audio (Stereo component only - mandatory part is the DTS Core Audio, lossless multichannel is optionally supported)

D - Dolby Digital (24/48 resolution) at up to 640kbps

E - DTS Core Audio.

All the rest is optional. So it is quite possible to play a disc, have the Dolby True HD light (or the DTS-HD Master Audio) and actually be getting lossy audio.

Additionally, lossless multichannel cannot be output down the so-called "legacy" digital connections (options 4 & 5 above) because the upper resolutions cannot go down these connections as there is insufficient bandwidth - down these connections you can get 24/48 5.1 at best, possibly 24/48 7.1 but I am not sure there. So all are restricted rather than just allowing only 16/24 bit at 48kHz and restricting the rest as that would be almost impossible to pull off. That said, some consoles will automatically resample and/or truncate the bitrate & shoe-horn it into a degraded output.

Check the audio setup in the old player, and make sure it is not set to downmix to stereo.

I also need to make a title page and chapter selection, is that something premiere can do?

Premiere Pro is very complicated. In the simplest option, you only need to export from there as MPEG2-DVD for DVD. Or are you making a Blu-ray?

Menus are made in Encore, not PR. Chapter markers can be set in PR, and should import to EN with the movie.

What is your source material? Format etc.

Is the movie in its final form? If so, you can let Encore transcode it.

Do you need to edit it before making the Blu-ray? You do that is Premiere Pro or similar program.

If the movie was not already in its final form and you edit it, you then export it in Bluray legal format, and then bring it into Encore.

This is not as simple process if you have not done this before.

Thanks for the idea but I've checked it - the duration is correct - just under three mins (rather than just under three seconds)

Just an update on this - I imported all my assets into a new project on a friend's PC and remade the project again and burned a disc and it worked. So I know the assets are definitely all good.

One obvious difference is that I have cs4 and my friend's machine has cs6.

Its possible I did something different when creating the project on the CS6 machine but I doubt it - its a very simple project - one menu with one button and one movie. So I suspect this is either some bug in cs4 that was fixed by cs6 or a problem with my installation - either way I'm not going to devote any more time to this one as I rarely use encore and I plan to get an upgrade to latest adobe CC version in the not to distant future any way,

Many thanks to all who responded on this

Hi,

I wondering how to use Encore with my Premier Pro software. I am hoping to burn some DVDs. If anyone can instruct me on how to do this, or send me a link to a solution, I would be very grateful.

Thanks,

Blu Ray Pop-UpMenu With Chapter Playlists

$

hey all! i’ve got what i assume is sort of an advanced issue and i’ve spent two days researching a solution to no avail:

i’m authoring a concert bluray with a menu containing a ‘play all’ button that links to my timeline as well as chapter selection buttons that return to the menu after the selected chapter finishes. (i accomplished this part using individual chapter playlists for each track wherein i’ve set the end action to that track’s corresponding button in the menu.)

the problem i’m having is that there’s also a pop-up menu which functions as it should when i link to the timeline with the ‘play all’ button but it doesn’t work when i jump to a chapter using the playlists.

is there a better way to achieve the desired result (chapter selection/return to menu) that will support the pop-up menu or am i simply SOL? i’d like to avoid having to reduce the bitrate of my video to accommodate two separate timelines as my content almost completely fills the bluray as it is and it would look like hot garbage if i had to reduce it enough to fit it on there twice.

thank you in advance for your time and attention.
