Re: DVD is bad quality but original video isn't

It might also be better not doing the standards conversion to 25 frame PAL. Almost all PAL players will play NTSC discs.

And that's why people should start their own threads rather than recycle old ones. The PAL thing probably has no relation to her issue at all, different problem entirely so it just muddies the waters

Never heard of such an attempt!

Note that a DVD-9 is nominally 8.5GB, but that is only 7.95GiB. So make sure the file size info matches.

I believe that the ROM must fit into one folder, but I don't know if there is a way around that.

You may be fighting the issue of how the material on the disk is laid out, and the only way to determine that in Encore the order in which it is added - and that may not do the trick.

And finally, if the ROM follows the rule of a video file, it can be no larger than one layer.

You might try building to a folder, with only part of the ROM, and add that in ImgBurn. You might have more control over layer break.

Sorry if I muddied, but the OP's problem seemed to be exactly my own.

Having a "DVD Quality Issue" is pretty general. The OP was actually converting frame rates which is really a different issue unto itself.

So back to your issue, please let us know what video source format you are working with so that we can address your particular quality problem. Besides the video not showing up at all, what particular quality issues are you having? If for example your source video is Progressive (1080p or 720p) but you use the default DVD output settings, that will create Interlaced video which can add interlace artifacting, in which case I'd recommend exporting the MPEG-2 DVD as Progressive then. But again, without even knowing what your source is, just guessing right now.

Thanks

Encore compatible with High Seirra??

Someone warned me that Encore CS6 may not work if I upgrade to High Seirra. Has anyone had any problems? I'm running Sierra (10.12.6) and the latest CC 2018 updates, and Encore CS6 (I regularly author DVDs for a publisher).

I'm having some strange issues within a few different Adobe programs (Premiere is crashing a few times a day, and Media Encoder is giving me crazy crazy long export times, but exports straight from Premiere are on par)  I'm wondering if this is due to me not upgrading to High Sierra yet.  I've delayed only due to being uncertain if Encore CS6 will still work on High Sierra.

Any help is welcome!

We get a lot of questions about it, but I don't recall whether anyone has indicated they have it working. Usual issue is getting the permissions for all the Encore folders subfolders and files set to read write. I'm Windows 10, so can't confirm.

Thank you for your response, Stan.

I downloaded PgcEdit and have been trying to digest that.  I'm exploring the possibility of putting the VIDEO_TS folder on the first layer and filling the rest of the first layer with ROM content and the entire second layer with ROM content.  As you said above, the ROM content may need to be in one folder.

Encore Wont Install

I am on a mac using the Adobe Creative Cloud apps. I followed How to download and install Adobe Encore CS6, Premier installed but no Encore. I tried to uninstall and reinstall but still no Encore. Anyone else have this problem or know of a way to fix it?

PGCEdit: not for the faint of heart! lol!

Let us know how it goes.

The most common version of this problem is that Encore did install, but you don't get an indication of how to run it.

Use finder to look for it. Don't recall the Mac path, but the location for 64 bit programs.

Encore CS6 "photoshop does not appear to be installed"

It looks like this has been discussed in the (distant) past. The answers don't appear to be valid any more.

I have Encore CS6 installed along side CC 2018. All apps seem to be installed and functioning well. The one problem I have is that when I create a menu from a template in Encore and then want to edit it in Photoshop, I get the message "Photoshop does not appear to be installed". Anyone have new information about what could be happening?

Thanks.

If I open a menu in Photoshop, CS6 Photoshop opens rather than the also installed CC18

I don't have PS CS6 installed on my other machine but Encore opens PS CC18 just fine. I'm not sure why me new machine is behaving differently.

That's good to know, though, Richard. I can use that as a possible solution for me if necessary.

Dear Stan, thank you for your tip! I did as you recommended and try only one subtitle and rendered: everything worked. Then I tried one subtitle after another, rendering after each one and noticed that the "freezing" time was getting longer and longer, but it managed to render... So, I did let it render during 12 hours and even if Encore looked totally blocked, it was still working... only reeeeally slow!

Thanks again for your help!

Wow. So did the project work in the end?

I think we (helpers on the forum) never did pin down one solution. Some of us could get a particular version of PS to work using the file association. I could not. I suspected the order in which various versions were installed, but not sure.

I'd guess at a registry edit (if Windows), but not for the faint of heart.

Did see this message only recently myself.

Go the the psd menu files in Source directory in the Encore project and set them to open with the desired PS version.

I feel a little bit foolish, but not entirely.

This is a new computer for me. I thought that I had associated PSD documents with Photoshop CC18 because PSDs displayed in folders with the PS logo. To be sure, I checked again by going to a PSD document on my computer, Right clicked it and clicked "Open with...". I selected Photoshop and made sure the "Always use this" was selected. I opened the document. Then I went to Encore and everything worked fine.

File association was the most successful solution I found in old posts (and I thought I had) but right clicking a PSD and choosing "Always use this" seems to be the trick.

This worked for me. I hope it helps others. Now, if I can remember what I did next time I encounter this I'll be fine.

Thanks for everyone's comments and suggestions.

I think I told you that in post 4.
