Re: Encore not working with Premiere Pro CC

Will it build if you change to "build to a folder" or image?

If you delete the problem timeline, will it build?

Create a new Encore project as a  test. Add only the problem video in a timeline. Try to build; does it work?

The filesize difference between different versions of Premiere Pro may be due to different bitrates in the presets.

He creado un proyecto desde cero, pero el problema es el mismo, el problema son todos los archivos, ninguno se puede grabar en encore.

Okay.

Please post a screenshot of your Encore flowchart. Also, the Encore build panel.

Sorry to necro this thread but I just wanted to add that this is the first place I've seen the length of the filename suggested as the issue of an "encode failed" warning.  This solved the problem for me with Encore CS5.  Thank you!

force Adobe Media encoder’s *.m2v format video bitrate

Is there any way to force Adobe Media encoder’s  *.m2v format video bitrate setting lower than 1.5? I want to experiment with getting more video on a DVD. I am using Media Encoder CC 2018, but if I need to use another version I can. Thanks

Menu highlight subpicture issue

Hi all!

I hope you can help me with a couple of issues I'm having in Encore. I've created my menus in PS, including these arrows for the highlighted button, however in the preview and when i burn a test dvd, instead of the shape I get the highlight colour, even though 'create subpicture' is switched off.

Normal Menu:

With 'Hover Triangles':

And how one of the triangles appears in the preview, and on a burnt disc:

When I uncheck 'Export Highlights In Rich Colours' I get the same issue in the editor. I've tried rasterising the arrows in case the shape layer was the issue, but no difference. I am baffled!

Thanks,

Adam (not Amie!)

DVD or Blu-ray?

Since you mention the rich color option, I assume BD. But then I see you said "test DVD."

If DVD, you can't get the better color and resolution.

If BD, you get the better color (and therefore shape resolution) in the menu editor, but not in Encore preview. So that makes sense. And you will only get the better color on disk, if the rich color option is selected.

Thanks Stan. It's for DVD not BluRay. It seems odd, but if that's the case, and I can't have shapes or images as highlight layers, then I'll go back to plan A ...which I also had a problem with!

My text subpicture appears at the top left of the button boundary (which includes the emboss and drop shadow), rather than over the text itself, creating a pretty ugly offset. I tried searching for a solution online to no avail before going to plan B...

I can think of a few ways to work around this, but they're all fairly long winded considering I just want to move one highlight by a few pixels.

Here's a screenshot:

Thanks,

Adam

I just never used the automatic create text subpicture. Always changed things in photoshop. Maybe that will help. But then I still avoided the text becoming the highlight.

The highlight is easier to control if it is not vector. Look at the Encore library sunset menu for its little angle.

I don't think Encore will treat it as legal if it goes that low. That is the test. And it will not transcode below that. And no, PR/AME won't let you set the bitrate below that unless you go to a format other than MPEG2-DVD, which is harder to set to DVD legal for other reasons.

Quality at rates that low is poor, but you know that!

Does the picture matter? Or a talking head where you don't care?

I know someone responded on Cow with a suggestion for dual layer.

The other approach to lots of stuff on one disk is SD on Blu-ray.

Surround Sound AAC on a DVD

I know this question has been asked before - but I've followed a few threads and it hasn't been spelt out how to do it!

I want to burn a 5.1 surround DVD. I've exported the audio as a six channel AAC and imported into into my Encore Timeline and can hear the sound. I've also set my project audio settings to Dolby Digital (is that correct?)

However - I'm finding that Encore wants to encode the timeline into a stereo file. I would assume there would be a box to say Don't Transcode - but there isn't. Just lot's of options how I want to re-encode the audio - which I don't want to do!

Re: Surround Sound AAC on a DVD

If the file is not DVD 5.1 legal, Encore will transcode into Stereo.

You want an a3c file, not AAC.

Encore only does 5.1 passthrough, and you can't preview the 5.1 in Encore.

Re: Surround Sound AAC on a DVD

Sorry - I meant AC3! I don't mind not previewing it - i'm just hoping it will pass through.

I'll encode again and see what happens. it's just worrying having boxes saying the audio will be stereo, and seeing the audio being Transcoded, when there doesnt seem to be any options to tell it not to!

Re: Surround Sound AAC on a DVD

That suggests it may not be DVD legal.

Richard Knight may drop in; what are your export settings for this?

His comment from an old thread indicates that "For a dvd the max Dolby Digital rate is 448.... If you use the wrong rate Encore will re-encode the audio."

Re: Surround Sound AAC on a DVD

I think you've hit the nail on the head! I've re-exported the Ac3 audio at 448 and straightaway it's put Don't Transcode in the audio settings which is what I'm after! I'll burn the DVD and see if it passes through ok!

Thanks for you help!! Fingers crossed!....
