Re: Encore drastically overestimating blu-ray disc image size

Some users experience this error when they are creating dual layer BD disks, and a layer is more than 25G. Each video/layer must fit on one side.

There is another version of this error that says "disk space," but I think yours is really referring to the media.

I just found a workaround. Apparently burning straight to the disc and not creating an image is the solution. Thanks for your reply Stan, that was fast!

Excellent. Fascinating that it worked!

Iam using Windows . What export setting should I use in premier for dvd ? Using mp2dvd

Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone

You must be using Encore in "Run As Administrator" mode for this to work.

Simply right-click the icon & select "run as administrator" and all should be well.

What's mp2dvd please? Do you mean "MPEG-2 (DVD)" export setting in PremierePro??

That would be correct, and this should also be set to export without multiplexing so you get an M2V file and a PCM WAV file.

Hope this helps

Re: Blu-Ray - Playback Freezes - Bitrate Question - Replication

@davidn5918184 - What Ann said!

The thing to remember with the peak bitrate values is to take them with a pinch of salt.

Personally, I have found the MainConcept engine used for the stock H.264 Blu-ray selection really is not that good, and can instead highly recommend the x264 Pro plugin. This really is much, much better.

That all said though, freezing & skipping on playback sounds to me like either a player or a media issue rather than a Premiere/Encore issue. The reflectivity on burned discs is nowhere near as good as on a replica/pressed disc.

Watch the total bitrate. In theory you can get 40Mbps peak on video files and on Profile 1.0 you can get a total bitrate of 48Mbps for audio & video combined, although this applies to just the currently active streams of video & audio playing back.

That said, I would steer well clear of theoretical maximum rates as the odds are a written/burned disc will not cope well at these rates whereas a replica will. With H264, you should be able to set a rate of VBR 2-pass at 20 peak 15 average & get a result comparable with anything from a major film studio.

Most of my work that requires DVDs is making backups of people's home videos, so the chances are very high that my source material is NTSC, and that my clients want DVD. I do not want Blu-ray, kthx.

I'll give the Encore link above a try!

Holy cats!  I've been using Encore CS6 for years.  Then, a few days ago, it quit working with Error Code 3 -- could not open a script file that was plainly there when I hunted it down.

Running on Windows 10 (current updates on July 22, 2018), setting Windows 7 Compatibility Mode resolved my issue!   Thanks!

I don't know what caused Encore to break.  Maybe an OS update.

No Chapter Markers on Import

Exported from PR or AME? What versions?

There was a bug in PR/AME CC 8 (2014?) that resulted in this error message. There was a coding issue that resulted in the xmpses file (which carries the marker information) being corrupt. It can be edited to work around the problem.

It was fixed in 8.1, so if you are not running 8.0 or 8.0.1, this would fall in the group of threads for this error where I don't think a real solution was ever found.

Let us know what version you are running.

Sorry; wasn't paying attention.

See my post here:

Re: System Crash When Exporting for Blu-Ray

The bug only applied to H.264 Blu-ray, and as seen in your screenshot, you used MPEG2 Blu-ray (m2v, not m4v).  The xmpses file might be fixable or not. The easiest next step would be to reexport, hoping the xmpses file will be okay the next time.

Make sure you don't have any chapter markers very close together.

Stan,

No I don't have any chapter markers close together. I tried another project, smaller in size, and received the same results.

Are you exporting from PR directly, or using the queue to AME? What version of AME do you have?

Can you send me one of the xmpses files? Or post a link to it?

I'll send you an email by PM.

OK, so like 5 years later and I'm posting here...

I found the link above from Stan Jones to be helpful. In particular this section:

Encore Menu Import Error

Hello,

I am working on a DVD authoring project using Adobe Encore CS6 (Version 6.0.1.013).

I have created a Photoshop file that includes multiple layers that are intended to become buttons in the DVD menu. When I attempt to File > Import as Menu OR Project > Right Click > Import As > Menu, I get the same error:

osstatus error = -5023

I have tried using different versions of Photoshop to export the menu/buttons file and importing Photoshop menu/buttons files from previous Encore projects that were successful.

I am running macOS Sierra.

Thank you in advance for any help/suggestions.

Well,  I thought Encore was working again with W7 compatibility set.  That's no longer the case.  I cannot import timelines.  Encore just hangs on the import command.  It does not seem to be able to do any file IO.  Seems to be the end of the road for Encore for me.  Since there is no Adobe replacement, it may be the end of me using Adobe.

I've been messing with this for days.  Today I tried Uninstall/Reinstall.  Still no joy.

What type of file? How are you trying to import?

Are you running "as administrator" (in addition to the W7 compatibility)?

As I've been doing for years: m4v + wav as a timeline, administrator.  Although wav file is more recent since Media Encoder stopped transcoding the audio.  The import stopped working within the past 2 weeks.

The subject of this thread is wrong for my problem -- I've not been trying to burn discs.  But, I'd thought the W7 compatibility setting had solved my issue, so I used the thread.
