Yes, the library is installed but I'm afraid I may run out of menus.  I mean you can find templates, presets, etc for PP or AE but cannot find much of anything on Encore templates and menus to use.  I mean there are quite a few in the library but it would be nice to have additional content.

Export now through frameserving and TMPGenc.

This is an old thread, but as there are many similar ones and I haven't seen anyone reporting a fix, I thought I should contribute my solution.  In a nutshell, delete the XMP metadata files created by Adobe Media Encoder:

- Quit the Encore project that is forcing transcodes and navigate to the location of the .m4v files that should normally be accepted without transcoding (those from Adobe Media Encoder).

- If you find XMP metadata files alongside the .m4v files, move them somewhere else or delete them .  Their file extension is ".xmpses" (in the case of m4v files, it will look like "[same file name].m4v.xmpses").

- Also delete the Encore cache associated with this particular Encore project

   (1) "mlf.cache.v10"

   (2) the entire "Adobe Adobe Encore DVD Preview Files" folder

- Re-open the same project and let Encore re-scan the media.  All of mine came up as "Don't Transcode" after doing these two things.

I'm not sure which of these two steps is required.  Possibly both.  I'm also not sure what this technique might "break," so please use your own judgement.  But I suspected that the XMP metadata --which I understand to be a hand-off mechanism to make sure the receiving Adobe app has more information about the file in question -- is simply full of incorrect information that is throwing Encore off.

Hope that solves it for someone.  I'd love to know whether it works consistently and for others, so please post back.

This solved the issue for me. Thanks so much dekafilm !!!

Hey, you made my day!  Always nice to know an old post-in-the-dark helped someone after all.

this is madness. Ive never had an issue cause me so much of a headache and lose me so much time.

I just exported 4 files from PP2017 using all of the same settings. 3 import into premiere and one says "the software that used to decode the media is not available on this system"

It imports the sound for that file but not the video. What the hell?!

Export from 2018 to cineform 10 bit.

Load that up in 2017 and export.

Yeah, It's kinda crazy, that in 2018 I'm learning Adobe Encore for the first time to create a Blu-ray. I still use DVD Studio for all my DVD's on an old Mac but found that Encore is actually pretty nice. We'll see if they take the disk image at the replicators or I will try BluStreak Tracer to make it replication ready. And, thanks again!

I have the same exact problem today  - H.264 Blu-ray export comes up with "device not ready" error.  I am going to try to 2017 CC to open the project and export.

problem I have is that the cc2018 project wont open in cc2017 so it involves exporting, then importing in 2017 and exporting again. Extra work that we shouldn't be doing.

Does anyone know if Adobe are aware of this and addressing it? Seems like a pretty major issue to me but I know they are absolutely dire at doing anything about bugs based on my past experience.

I was able to duplicate the error:  Blu-ray Error; "device not ready", Code; "3."  I found a workaround.  In Premiere, the latest version, I created an H.264 video file, not H.264 Blu-ray.  I imported the video file into Encore CS6.  I made an Image File.  I loaded the video into ImgBurn.  It burned it without any problems.  The Blu-ray disc played successfully.

Excellent. What was the source of the file that failed? Your own machine or one of the ones that others have had issues with? I assume your own.

H.264 (rather than H.264 BD) may fail because they include options that are removed in the H.264 BD version. Can you post a screenshot of your settings?

H.264 (mp4) is a workaround - but h.264  will not export the chapter markers, also encore will re encode again. So this will not help, unless if there is a way to export chapter markers.

I do not use Chapter Markers.  After Encore CS6 creates an Image File, I do not see any noticeable loss in quality.  Those who have viewed the Blu-ray videos are impressed with the quality.

I used a mov file with the animation codec.

Encore did a good job encoding.

Thanks. I confused things. I was asking for a screenshot of the H.264 export settings (not H.264 Blu-ray). However, in light of the discussion about Encore transcoding, I now believe that you got a file that Encore had to transcode. Which is all I was checking. I think there are a variety of methods to get a file that Encore will transcode. And the results can be very acceptable. But the main problem with PR not providing a correct file, is that PR cannot provide an H.264 file that does not need to be retranscoded.
