Re: Can I put a chapter marker near or on a crossfade?

I have my "marathon" recital weekend coming up, shooting six 2.5 hour shows in two days.

When my Premiere edit is done, I export using AME direct to "MPEG-2 DVD" and Import the resulting assets into Encore. If I had chapter marks in Premiere, they carry over to Encore if using "Import > As Timeline". If I later need to change a title or something in Premiere, I export a new MPEG-2 and replace video in existing Encore. One cheat I have done is to just use the same file name and let Encore "think" it is the original .m2v file. But as mentioned earlier, the chapter marks can move a wee bit when doing this and then I have to manually tweak every one on the Encore timeline. I zoom in on the timeline by the chapter mark so I can see frame ticks on the ruler and then there is a button to jump to the next GOP and then I know just where to slide the chapter mark over to.

I should clarify - once you have built menus and all that in Encore, if you need to re-render from Premiere, you can't make new chapter marks in Premiere and have them appear in Encore, then you would be "starting over" since current marks in Encore are already all linked up in the menus. You're just going to replace the existing video asset and keep the chapters that were already there. Assuming you do NOT change the timing of the event!

Thanks

Jeff
