Chapters DO NOT need end actions, and in your workaround, must not have them.
Yeah, otherwise I'd still be getting the error, right? That is good to know.
I recall getting errors saying the Chapters required end actions, and that's why I assumed the Chapters required end actions.
But now that I think about it, the end action requirement must have been due to the fact that the Chapters were linked to by the Submenu buttons.
Once I linked to the Chapter Playlists instead, and specified the end actions there, I must have removed the Chapter Point end actions.

Your "workaround" is the current main method. Chapter Playlists are a "feature."...
Main timeline, end action to main menu.
Chapter playlists, end action to submenu.
No other timeline/chapter end actions.
So Chapter Playists really is how I should be doing things? Yeah! I got something right (even if I got there by accident).
Well, now I'm thinking that the playlist feature might actually come in handy. Hmm.
My chapter button would just say "Play whatever's defined by this playlist and return to the submenu".
Then if I ever wanted to fart around with chapter settings on the timeline (add/remove/etc), I could just change the playlist definition and not have to even touch any of my workflow. That's actually kind of nice feature...
