You can make a few choices about how the flowchart works, but, other than not showing thumbnails, I suspect they won't simplify what you are seeing.
Flowchart info:
From the drop down menu on the flowchart panel, deselect "Show All Thumbnails."
You can move menus around, and it is possible that some moves will make the flowchart appear simpler.
