I've gone ahead and done the partition with Mountain Lion running on it and everything is working perfectly. Well, as perfectly as Encore can run. It's never exactly been overly reliable in my experience. I'll be able to finish the job though which is what counts. Keep this in mind as a fix for those having troubles. It may be the only long term compatibility fix as Encore continues to age.
