No trial for Encore. You can try Premiere. I believe there is still a money back guarantee for 30 days. Clarify with sales.
There are special issues with Encore, which is the only authoring tool provided by Adobe. There is no Encore CC; the final version is CS6. It appears to work okay for Windows 8; not so well on Mavericks.
