Re: Encore CS5.1/5.5 Project flat lines during transcoding

I think an overarching issue is that you have jam-packed the disc to the limit.  There's no margin for error in En's calculations, and En always makes errors in calculations.  That is likely the problem.  But in case it's not, try transcoding to H.264 Blu-ray in Pr.  I'm pretty sure you'll need to set the Multiplexer to TS for the next step to work.  Use the Replace Asset command to replace the dynamic link sequence in the En Project panel with the transcoded file from Pr.  The file transcoded in Pr should show up in your project as "Do Not Transcode" in the Blu-ray column.

Since this is a user to user forum, not Adobe support, that means that you need to wait until some other user reads your message AND has help to offer

Yes...and I did wait and in the meantime I solved the issue myself. And yet I have got more responses now just because I said I was disappointed in the forum than when I initially posted asking for help.

Yes, sorry I was unable to follow up on your response to me. I was just not available.

Two options for looking at footage and getting info:

Gspot <a href="herehttp://gspot.headbands.com/">here</a>

Media Info <a href="Linkhttp://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download/">Link</a>

BTW, unless your footage is now okay in Encore, I do not assume your problem with Encore was solved. (I am 100% behind getting the job done, and that you did.) All video is put onto DVDs interlaced (and can be upper or lower etc); it is the player that interprets the indicators to make it progressive on playback. (Players capable of progressive playback used to be a big thing.)

Your footage I assume is PAL, since you have 25fps. All of the above can be relevant, and you can have issues at each step of the workflow.

If it's saying Do Not Transcode, then the media is fine to go on disk as is, you don't need to change anything.

Try hitting the Pop Up menu bottom on the remote instead.

"Duplicate File Found"

Not sure what is going on. "Duplicate File Found" at disk build.

The first time I encoded with AME at too high a bit rate. I re-encoded at lower bit rate and deleting the original files. I then renamed the re-encoded files to the original filenames used in the project. I don't see any duplicate files anywhere.

Then I tried deleting all of the projects asset files and cleaned the media database. I then re-imported all file assets and rebuilt the DVD menues from scratch. I still get this message "Duplicate File Found".

I have run out of options other than wiping out the enitre project and starting from the very begining.

Some more info: the menu is the problem here. The menu background is a 2.5 second movie tht is just a 1 sec fade up on a title card. There is one button, which is an 8x8 graphic that sits in the top left corner (i.e., "invisible" button). This button links to the 1 timeline, which has an end action of returning to the menu. There is also a fade out movie that is the button transition. When I remove the fade in menu background, the build will complete, so this seems to be the problem. Screenshots of relevant tabs attached.

The one thing that raises a red flag for me is the .264 extension.

I think it'd be easer just to have the four buttons on one menu.

I noticed the transition, but did not see why that would be an issue. Almost suggested you do what you did - remove to see if it mattered.

I suspect the settings for the transition. change the transcode setting to automatic and see if Encore handles it.

.264 files work well in En if they adhere to the BD spec.  I've used .264 files from both MeGUI and x264Pro with no issues whatsoever.

I don't think it's the file extension.

It's not removing the transition, but removing the motion menu that allows me to build. I am going to try working on that later

Also, everything works fine in preview.

I don't see anything that should cause this problem.

If the motion background is 2.5, you might try that (instead of 2.25) as the duration.

What are your default transcode settings? What is the motion background setting?

You might try changing that background setting to automatic, to see if that matters.

Can't create BR disc image

Trying to export Encore project to a BluRay disc image. The error message says I'm using too many characthers in the image name, but I'm only using six characters, all letters.

Help?

Can you post a screenshot of your build panel? Of the error message? I don't recall this error before, and a 6 letter name certainly shouldn't result in an error.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot after lunch.

I finaly figured it out. It has to do with files I put into the DVD Content folder. I copied a backup copy of all of my project files and put them in the DVD contents folder. They are a duplicate copies but I have done this type of backup before and it worked just fine without displaying "Duplicate File Found" message.... Why Encore even cares what I put in the DVD Contents folder...Why I don't know? I should be able to put practicaly any file in the dvd contents folder. This should be pretty much dummy information as far a Encore is concerned. It doesn't make sense. Why it sends off flags I have no clue why? I certainly don't find this a user friendly feature if it Adobe has done this on purpose.

I left this up so any poor soul can have at least some knowlege base. I couldn't find any when I went through it.

So we are all on the same page, by DVD content,  you mean the "DVD-ROM Content" in the build tab?

Certainly there were various red flags, which you were trying to address:

"reencoded, deleted, renamed" and "copied a backup copy" are concepts that Encore is not fond of.

But how could you get a duplicate file, even in the ROM content?
