Missing Video and Audio files

0
0

Hi everyone,

Firstly, I'm new to Encore but have been using Adobe CS/CC for over a decade.

I've been viewing the tutorials on YouTube and they are very helpful when learning the basics for Encore.

However, when I import video files as timeline, some of them only show the audio without the video and others have the video but the audio sounds like there's only 2 rear audio channels playing, not the full 5 for surround sound.

Is there a fix to this or is there a problem with the original files I'm trying to import because the original files look and sound perfect when playing through VLC player?

Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?

Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... A screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing - For Windows Internet Explorer press the PRINT SCREEN button on your keyboard, and then do CTRL-V to paste the screen print from the clipboard into a forum message

5.1 sound is passthrough only in Encore. Best results bring separate files into Encore. One option is to export from Premiete/AME AS mpeg2-dvd for DVD or h.264 Blu-ray. But you may not have the 5.1 option. Answering John's questions will help.

I'm on a MAC with El Capitan v10.11.6.  I just had to do a clean & install of CS6 to get Encore.  BUT, now I no longer get that screen either.  If I uninstall CS6 Encore goes with it.

ANY ideas, folks?

That is just odd. I'd just leave PR CS6 installed. Interested to know if anyone has ideas about why this change has happened.

What i'm trying to do is obtain clips from specific movies that I have purchased and create a demonstration disc for my work. For this specific file, the audio sounds like only the rear channels in a surround system is working through Adobe Encore.

You cannot preview 5.1 audio on Encore. Burn a rewritable disk or build to an image to test.

You may have to demux the video and audio streams before bringing into Encore.

PLAY button issue

A couple of times a year, I still have to make a DVD for one client. I've been using DVD Studio Pro for years, but it's no longer supported, and OS updates have made it very buggy. So I'm trying to use Encore to get this thing out the door... today.

I need to make a simple custom menu, with a JPEG (that already has title type embedded in it), and a basic PLAY button that starts the video. I used the triangle button from the Encore library, and did this (the "PLAY" text was created in Encore as well) -

But when I try to preview it, or when I burned a test copy, this is what appears on the screen -

When I try to play the DVD using the PLAY button or SELECT/OK button on my DVD player, it performs as expected, but what's up with the translucent orange triangle? Can anyone explain what I seeing and how to eliminate one triangle or the other? Thanks!

It's a highlight that appears turned "on." Normally, it should only come on when the button is selected or clicked.

Given your workflow, I'm not sure why it is appearing. Post a screenshot of the menu layers panel.

Can you right click the menu in the menu viewer and select "edit in photoshop"? I find that the easier way to fix some things if it works for you. Some Mac users had problems with newer operating systems.

Edit: Is that the "Arrows1" Button from the corporate set?

Thanks for responding, Stan. Here's the screenshot -

I don't get any lightbulbs going off when looking at that. But I don't really know what I'm looking at, since I'm not experienced in Encore. I get that the translucent triangle could be the indication that the button has been selected or clicked, but why would it be larger and offset?

And I did "edit in Photoshop." When I first created the "PLAY" text, it was green. Couldn't find a way to change that in Encore, so I sent it to Photoshop, and changed the text color to white. Since my Encore menu experience is very limited, I don't know what else I could do in Photoshop to make the button behave the way it seems it should. Ideas?

Okay. Do you want the blue triangle? Let's say yes. So you want the orange triangle to appear when selected or clicked? but to be the same size and position as the blue one?

Encore does change certain things from Photoshop, in particular the color of highlights and when they appear (and don't).

Your blue triangle is in the layer called "triangle." The orange one is in the =1 layer (highlight) which encore has turned off - as it is supposed to do. (No "eyeball.") To see the highlight states, in the menu viewer, click on the "Show subpicture" buttons.

I think the easiest way to fix this will be (in PS) to duplicate the triangle layer, delete the current highlight layer, then rename the uppermost triangle layer to =1. Whether you have visibility on or off in PS, Encore will turn it off when you save and close, and go back to EN.

Colors are determined by numerous factors. Start by ignoring the colors in PS, and in EN menu properties, set the "Color Set" to automatic.

Also, normally, your button text is going to be in a lower layer (in PS) than the highlight/graphic layer. I don't think it matters as you currently have it configured.

Saw your edit about whether that triangle was "arrows1" from the corporate set. I wasn't sure, so I searched for it. I was pretty sure that it was called "triangle" - and there's no "triangle" in any of the button sets. So now I think I found a source of "shapes" (from SOMEWHERE in Encore) and used that, and then right clicked to make it a button. After I looked at "arrows1," I thought I'd just start over with that. So I deleted my previous triangle and PLAY text, and used "arrows1." Took it to Photoshop, made it look the way I wanted, and roundtripped back. It works perfectly - both in the preview simulation and in the DVD player after burning a test copy. So - I don't know what I did last night that caused the issue, but I know what I"m going to do next time! Thanks for the help.

Just read your notes about the button states and editing in Photoshop. Very helpful. I'm familiar with button states from DVD Studio Pro, but Encore (of course) deals with them in a very different way. I've saved this entire conversation as a PDF to review again in six months - the next time I'll have to make a DVD (ugg). My future self thanks you again.

m4v audio LOCKED, DUPLICATE

When I import m4v files into premiere or encore, it does not bring in the audio. There is audio in the file. How do I make it import the audio as well?

I have a library of m4v files I'm trying to re-export as mp4 or mov files.  I did a batch and lost the audio on all of them.

LOCKED, go to m4v audio?

Export to Blu-ray

Hello,

How do I export to Blu-ray without downgrading my premier property every tutorial I see looks out of date. It's 2018, is there no way to burn to Blu-ray!?

Thanks

You need Encore CS6 in order to make a BD.

Download Premiere CS6 and it will automatically install Encore alongside.

Export from Premiere CC with H.264 Bluray and import the two files (video and audio) into Encore.

Encore video and audio is not synced

I can take an mp4 or MPEG-2  file that has no problems with the audio being out of sync with the video and put it in encore it is out of sync. And to make things weirder the audio is synced up just fine at the beginning but near the end it is way off. The audio is at least 2 seconds ahead of the video. What is going on?

Re: Encore video and audio is not synced

Export from Premiere Pro using the MPEG2-DVD preset and import the resulting two files (audio and video) in Encore for authoring

Any other files need to be split inside Encore into audio and video streams, and that can cause problems

Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are using?
