Hello, I have a wedding video made and I am trying to burn it to a dual layer disk. Each time I burn it, it cuts off after the second chapter. The project is 6.5 gb and the dual layer disk is 8.5. I have searched and searched. I tried calling but was told Encore is no longer supported. I am at a loss and this video is very important. I have wasted a lot of disks and tons of time trying to find a solution and cant seem to find help. PLEASE help me do whatever you can. Please understand that I am not an expert an encore so a step by step procedure or something would be greatly appreciated. Also, I am not able to set manual layer breaks I am not sure if this matters. I am working with ADOBE CS6.

FYI: Yes my computer is able to burn dual layer disks.

If you are two thirds through a 6+gig project and only to chapter 2, encore probably does not have a place for a layer break. Each half can not be any larger than half.

I do not know the specific cause, but I suspect layer break.

This should not create any problem.

So tell us exactly what you did.

End Action not Working

Hello,

I have a problem with my DVD project. The main DVD menu has three buttons, each starting a different video. The End Action of all three is set to play another short trailer, which happens correctly after videos No. 2 and 3, but not after No. 1. After No.1 the DVD simply stops and only when pressing the Next Chapter button on the DVD-player remote does it continue with the End Action, i.e. the short trailer.

Interestingly enough, or confusingly enough, when playing in Preview in Encore, the End Action follows correctly.

Does anybody have an idea what could be the cause?

Not seeing chapter markers in Encore CS6.

I have created chapter markers (not generic markers) in Premiere Pro CC, and given each of them names (not comments), which I have confirmed do show up as hover text in the PrP timeline.  Now, when I've tried exporting a simple sequence with these chapter markers, as MPEG-2/DVD, the chapter markers do appear when I "import as timeline" in Encore CS6.  However, when I export my entire project, which has nested sequences (not sure if that matters), the core clips of which have the chapter markers, ... I do not see my chapter markers in Encore.  Is that a limitation?  I mean, do chapter markers in PrP have to be set at the shallowest (least nested) level of the timeline of the export?

I've looked around the forums some, and what little I've found spans a few versions of Encore, with some complicating UI changes.  One, on Encore CS4, advised to "make sure you have 'Include Source XMP data' selected," ... but I can't find any such option (in my newer software).  The closest thing is the "metadata" button at the bottom of Adobe Media Encoder, which opens a panel with a drop-down menu (top left) for "export options" including "Create Sidecar File" or "embed in Output file" ... unfortunately, the latter is grayed out.  I understand some format types may not allow xmp data to be embedded, but I thought MPEG-2/DVD allowed it.  Regardless, the online tutorials I've found say that Encore CS6 is smart enough to go looking for the sidecar file with the xmp data (chapter markers).  With that in mind, I made sure not to rename or move the .xmp file from what Adobe Media Encoder created.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

When I export the same project as a MPEG-2/Blu-ray (not H.264), then try to import it into Encore CS6, I get this error pop-up:

I'm not sure whether the xmp data handoff trouble is at generation in Adobe Media Encoder, or at read in Encore.

I don't get this error message when importing the MPEG2-DVD files  -- but despite that, I still don't see the chapter markers.

Update: It does seem that the problem is nested sequences.  If I open any of the sequences and export just that sequence, then the chapter markers show up on the timeline in Encore.  But if I try to export the same portion of the video from the root timeline in PrP (which contains the three sequences that make up my complete video, each sequence of which contain the chapter markers within each sequence), then I see no chapter markers on the Encore timeline.

Does this match anyone else's experience or expectations? If so, is there some fix that does not involve manually respotting and retyping all ~40 markers to the root timeline?  Like some kind of live render-and-replace function?  Or perhaps a marker pass-through setting in preferences?

Thanks.

"device error", Code: "3", Note "CreateStcSequence:Fail to write M2S file"

This error is probably from multiple sources, and there has been no consistent fix reported. It can be media or drive. It can be permissions. A reinstall of Encore has fixed it in at least one situation. Reducing bitrate/project size may avoid the error. Make sure you are running Encore "as administrator."

It does seem that the problem is nested sequences.

Correct. Markers are only exported from the sequence that is being exported.

Not that I know of.

How do I get rid of the default spades when choosing menu items?

Additionally, there's nothing else to choose. I suppose I can go down to the bottom right corner of the program, choose the item, and hit delete. But Id be interested in just changing it. Again, when hovering over a menu item, it shows a spade (as in playing cards) - I'd like to remove that as I am trying to make menu items for a wedding client DVD.

Take the menu into Photoshop and rebuild it as you would like it to be.
