Re: Solved Blu ray Error: "device error", Code "3"

A moderator might be able to branch your issues from this thread (beginning with post 3). But there might be a delay, so just start a new thread and post a link to this thread.

Code 3 errors come in many forms: the "note" is the meat of the issue.

Post the full text of the error message, and your versions of Encore (assume CS6) and PR/AME. Also the specific version of Windows you are running.

I am running Encore without basic issues like this on Win 10, version 1803.

Encore CS6 hangs on file IO

This started under another thread since I thought setting Windows 7 compatibility had solved my problem:

Re: Solved Blu ray Error: "device error", Code "3"

I've created this thread since using Windows 7 compatibility no longer helps.

I am running Windows 10 with updates current on July 26, 2018:

July 24, 2018—KB4340917 (OS Build 17134.191)

Applies to: Windows 10, version 1803.

I am using Encore CS6, which I think is 2012 software since Encore has been mostly orphaned by Adobe.

My problem started when I could not start the "build" operation on a m4v+wav file (timeline) that had been created by Media Encoder -- Encore would hang with "Program Not Responding".

Now I have a different problem: Encore hangs with "Program Not Responding" when I try to import a Media Encoder produced m4v+wav timeline.

Previously, I'd been using Encore for years with no issue.

Was some common file changed by Adobe?

With the exception of Encore (updates stopped in 2012, I think), I am using Adobe Premiere Pro and Media Encoder along with After Effects with CC updates current on July 26, 2018.

So what is still working is that you can open Encore, create a new project? Can you add a menu from the library?

I would create a 30 second test clip and export from PR with the default H.264 Blu-Ray settings. Does that fail?

If you are importing "as timeline," try to import as asset and pick only the m4v or the wav.

If so, delete the xmpses and xmp files in the export folder, and try again.

Can you export a test MPEG2-DVD format and import?

I'd already tried most of what you suggest.  I also uninstalled/reinstalled Encore.  No joy.  I've now uninstalled Encore and am using another company's software to multiplex/transcode the m4v+wav file.  I went through an Adobe support chat and the fellow I was conversing with said he'd had no Encore training.  It seems like Adobe has just left Encore CS6 out there.  If it works, fine.  If not, too bad.

It's time to move on from Encore.

Running as administrator was addressed/tried in the other thread.

Yes, there is no support (Encore is end of life). It is still working well for some users;  not others.

What software are you using? There are several threads on alternatives, and other users often want to know.

Adobe Encore problems

I have recently been using Adobe Encore and I have just completed a project for client. On checking project on Build tab, it is saying that I have exceeded disc size. I have already reduced the size of the video file and I get the same message. When I come to render the project it comes up with OSStaus Error =-37

It has taken me a long time to organise the project and at times when I go to "preview from here" I have to force quit it on my iMac as it stops working

Any ideas?

the subtitle or sub-picture of the menu is too complex to be decoded

Hi,

I am Italian and I hope I can explane my problem in English.

I have done a dvd menù, but during the creation of menù (dvd, dvd folder, dvd image...) it appears this problem.

"The subtitle or sub-picture of the menù is too complex to be decoded".

The menù has two subtitles: italian and english and a animation as background.

Can someone help me? In Italian forum I found nothing.

Thanks.

Lara

Show Selected Subpicture Highlight issue on arrow in a Blu-Ray player

Hello,

I use the same menus in Encore CS6 that those I used in CS5 but my arrows don't work properly when I read a Blu-Ray from a Blu-Ray player.

I tried with 3 different players, same result.

I insist on that because in the preview mode, in Encore CS6, everything seems to be OK!

The problem (not visible in Encore preview mode) :

Arrows keep the same colour when they are selected ("Show Selected Subpicture Highlight" option) but they are OK in "Show Activated Subpicture Highlight".

I even tried to use other arrows from more recent templates ("High Tech" buton of Corporate section).

I read some other posts and nothing seems the same (I checked the resolution : 1920ps x 1080px)

Can you see something in my menu?

PS : for the text, it's working but not very nice because I see the initial coulour + highlight colour above, but it's a minor problem.

In my project I can show you that everything SEEMS to work properly in preview mode :

I can't look at this in detail until a little later. In the meantime, can you post a screenshot of your Encore flowchart?

I have made again subtitles. This time shorter, but I have the same problem. Can be a pc problem?

Thanks

I don't think it is a computer hardware or operating system problem.

Are you importing a subtitle file?

Tried this today after a long time trying to find a solution and it worked! The only line that had an asset which was in italics, so I changed it and voila!

Thank you!!
